I was reminded today that looks can be deceiving. When I saw this black and white paisley bedding set, "damask print" was my first impression. Then I picked up the package to read the details of the fiber content, etc. and WHAMMO; those little amoeba shaped patterns just POPPED out at me.

Actually, to be fair, there are areas of the fabric that have damask print designs but the border of the duvet cover is made up of mirrored pairs of paisleys. Throughout the black and white paisley bedding set you will the solid black color in one area and solid white color on the other end and all reverse to solid white. The solid color fabric of the throw pillows as well as the solid white portion of the fabric of the comforter cover is surrounded by the unique damask paisley print combination. The pillow shams and throw pillows are absolutely divine and I’m so happy that I picked this collection up for a closer look!

How do you think that it would look in a girl's bedroom where the walls are painted a silvery gray? I would appreciate it if you would leave your comments regarding this black and white paisley bedding set before you leave Tween and Teen Girls Bedding and Bedroom Decorating Ideas so that I'll know whether the cheap bed in a bag set or this set would be more in tune with the tastes of my clients.

BOHEMIAN BEDROOM DECORATING IDEAS

One of the best bohemian bedroom decorating ideas that I have experimented with in quite some time came to me recently quite by chance. Sometimes to move forward, it pays to hop in the old time machine and take a trip to the past. For that reason, I am known to skim over the people in old pictures in order to look at their surroundings much to the chagrin of my mother who wants my interest in old family photos to be about wanting to learn more about our kin rather than picking up tips on how they decorated their homes.

On my last visit home, I was looking through some pictures that were taken in a hippie style restaurant, cafe or coffeehouse back in the early 70s or late 60s. Looking beyond the stringy haired flower children wearing round Beatle style glasses, I was actually trying to pick up some tips from the wall and ceiling decorations that were used.

The pictures of the room decorations and bohemian decor were fuzzy and the colors had faded or bled to the point that details were difficult to pinpoint. But the photos were clear enough for me to know that I wanted to document what decorations that the proprietor had used to achieve his or her version of the soft, dreamy atmosphere that is the foundation of all bohemian bedroom decorating ideas.

To do this, I had to pick apart as many areas of the room that I could see and from what I could tell recycling was alive and well in the heyday of hippie décor. Threadbare oriental rugs were cut apart and used to make huge, throw pillows and as upholstery fabric. One of the most unique bohemian bedroom decorating ideas that I took from this vintage photo was how they used a large oriental area rug to camouflage flaws in the ceilings and walls.

I’m not for sure how they attached the rug to the ceiling but I would imagine that a staple gun could do the trick. I would start by centering the rug on the ceiling and start stapling from one side to the other letting the center of the rug hang loosely. Then, I would put a staple into the center of each medallion in the center to give the decoration a puffed or stuffed appearance that would, under the right circumstances, make the rug seem to be floating.

Now you see why I consider this to be one of the most creative bohemian bedroom decorating ideas; by recycling damaged rugs you can achieve the ultimate in bohemian bedroom style for a very cheap price.

Some cool decorating ideas for this funky set of teen bedding would be to get a lime green, hot pink or orange faux fur rug for the bed side and stencil some paisley patterns in coordinating paint colors on the walls in a similar grouping to the one on the bedding fabric.

If you are really aggressive and like a challenge, use a striping paint technique on the walls to match the dust ruffle!

Each new generation seems to thing that they came up with paisley. The hippie crowd in the 60s did paisley along with tie-dye and the 70s mixed it up with disco glam. In the 80s and 90s paisley designs took a more starched, dignified form. Now here we are in the new millenium with cool paisley prints showing up in teen's bedrooms as well as their purses. Paisley and polka dot wallets, coin purses as well as paisley bandanas and sheets are considered so very cool this fall. Paisley patterns are pretty classic , but the colors! WOW! Bright oranges are combined with shades of turquoise blue and purple for a brilliant display of traditional fall colors gone wild!
