BLACK and WHITE TEEN BEDROOM IDEAS
GO HERE for MORE!
There’s so much that black and white bedrooms can offer far beyond a painted white room with black curtains or vice versa. They are an excellent opportunity to forego the worries of coordinating accent colors and play with graphic designs that add a mix of patterns and scale that in many cases trump the effects of even the most wild of color displays. But as with so many decorating styles, there are a few tricks to using such a seemingly simple design successfully.
TEXTURE
Some decorators (not me!) shy away from black and white bedrooms citing that the design is too stark and modern for most tastes. Even black and white damask bedding sets with a very active fabric pattern tend to make some otherwise bold individuals unsure of themselves. I agree that this color combination can be cold so the key is not to let it intimidate you but to warm it up.
To do so without losing the dramatic effect of the monochromatic color scheme can be difficult without tripping up and allowing an unexpected accent color to throw the entire scheme of things and challenge your black and white bedding set for decorative dominance. Here are some suggestions on how to layer your black and white room with delicate, sensual textures without leaving the neutral color palette:
A black tree branch with white silk blossoms artfully arranged in a ceramic vase.
A black or white faux bearskin rug
Accent pillows made of fabrics that offer a broad array of textures
Lamps of varied heights and shapes with interesting shades
Here’s an idea of how to make your own black and white teen bedroom decorations. Dig through your attic, granny’s trunk or the garage and pick out some stuff that you can prime and spray paint either black or white. Take the decor up a notch by mixing it up with enamel, shiny black lacquer or flat black finishes and step back to admire your work.
